Sure signs you have a “great” boss
It is a great skill to be a great boss and takes time to get there. Here are some of the signs that highlight a “great” boss….
1. Your boss respects your decisions – you have an opinion and your boss listens to you are takes on board your suggestions.
2. Your boss delegates and leaves you to get on with your job. The worst thing a boss can do is micro-manage. A great boss is one that trusts you to get on with what you are doing and does not nit-pick at every step.
3. Clear communication from your boss is a sure sign of a boss that is great. This helps you to do your job well and know where you are.
4. A boss that listens well and actually stops what they are doing to attend to you is a wonder. Not only does this make you feel important but also that what you say is valued.
5. Being friendly does not take too much hard work and a boss who can also be nice and a friend helps build the relationship between you.
6. Accepting blame for a mistake can be really difficult for some, especially a boss so if you experience this characteristic, respect your boss.
7. A boss that is a team player means there is no “you” and “I” and that you can do things together. This will increase productivity all round.
8. Being transparent helps employees to feel happier. It builds trust and respect and makes them feel worthy.
9. A boss that is inspirational is one that will experience results. The inspiration can come in a number of ways, it does not matter how but if they can inspire you, great.
10. Giving praise and credit when it is due is so important and if your boss is able to do this when you have achieved something, take note. Some find it extremely difficult.
11. Leads from the front – they do not just sit there dictating, but they get their head stuck into the task in hand and work their socks off, showing you how the job is done.
12. Your boss really cares about the company and works hard to focus on the wider goals of the business.
13. Staying calm and collected even in times of strife. Isn’t great to watch your boss stay so cool when under immense pressure?
